Welcome to the JISC CETIS (Centre for Educational Technology and Interoperability Standards) Assessment SIG (Special Interest Group).
The use of computers in the assessment of student knowledge and learning is an increasingly popular solution in UK Further and Higher Education. The JISC CETIS Assessment SIG has been set up to monitor CAA-based interoperability initiatives for Further and Higher Education practitioners in the UK, ensuring that members are kept informed of activities in standards and specifications development and providing a forum for debate and the sharing of knowledge and experience. Both the SIG and JISC CETIS as a whole are involved in ensuring that the requirements of these sectors are fed into international initiatives such as the IMS Global Learning Consortium.

The SIG holds meetings roughly quarterly in different locations around the UK. The meetings are free and open to all. Assessment SIG meeting reports and presentations are available online.
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for 5 November 2008.
You can join the SIG's JISCMail Discussion List. This is a low volume mailing list with updates on standard and specification developments, news on CAA initiatives and activities, and forthcoming events.
For technical discussions on the specification, you should join the IMS Question and Test public forum. This is where you can get in touch with experienced developers and share your implementation experiences and queries. The list's archive also contains a great deal of useful implementation information.
